UPDATE: The Red Flag Warning has been extended through 4 p.m. Sunday.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of San Diego County because of weather conditions are increasing the fire danger. A check with local public safety agencies shows no active fires in the county. However, personnel from US Forest Service are being sent to assist the raging Sayre Fire near Sylmar in the San Fernando Valley. 10 engines, a hot shot crew, and a heli-tanker on the way there, according to a dispatcher for Forest Service.
Local fire crews spent their night monitoring fires across the Mexican border east of the Tecate Port of Entry. One burned about 35 acres, according to Cal Fire, and its rate of spread has been stopped.
Cal Fire is keeping an eye on a small fire about a mile into Mexico near Forest Gate Road in Campo, a dispatcher said. It is pretty small not threatening the U.S. side..
