What will these rascals think of next??????????
by JW August ~ September 12th, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized. The Investigative Team at 10news has a special this Saturday night. This is our fourth one hour special. It gives people a chance to watch our work who might have missed some of the stories the first time around. Plus we will be updating you on some ongoing investigations. It kicks off at 10pm and it’s better than wrestling reruns, I promise. Our website — 10news.com — has compiled the stories and some backrounding on the investigations. Also our blogs have supporting material if you are interested in more information.
Here are some of the stories we profiled:
One of the stories is a scam that is so clever in it’s simplicity. Crooks are printing copies of tickets to entertainment or sporting events, like a Charger game or a rock concert. They sell these tickets on Craigslist and other places. Beware the good deal. And check this story out, it leads off our hour. One guy ripped off $100,000 before he was nabbed. This is a rip off that is still ongoing as you read this blog. Beware the good deal.
A couple of the other stories have me grinding my teeth. It’s frustrating when trusting consumers get ripped off and we can’t help them. We tried. We warned people. But the operators of a crooked cosmetic laser surgery clinic are having the last laugh. They took thousands of dollars, lied to their staff and to their clients. They’re back in New York now, laughing at us suckers in California. And our local law enforcement is blowing off the victims. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
You have to see the story on the housing fraud we ran down. The central character in this is a pathological liar. He has no problem with destroying people who have already been stepped on by the mortgage crisis. And he is still out there selling his scam. Be careful.
Stop by Channel 10 Saturday night and give us an hour of your time. And for goodness sakes, keep those tips coming in. It’s San Diegan’s who want to make a difference that fuel our fires.
