Dear Diary….

cardio

My darling daughter Selena says I sure have a lot of excuses not to exercise.  Well….. HELLO!??!?!  I’ve got 51 YEARS worth stored up!!   (Okay that might be a slight exaggeration I didn’t start exercising straight from the womb…. but I’m sure I was starting my list of excuses then!  Just like thinking of places to stash M&M’s and Oreo cookies.  It takes talent to hide them from siblings, children and other loved ones!)

I did very well today food wise, but I’ve been bad about my water lately.  So that’s my goal for tomorrow drink 8 glasses of water.  (You would think with as hot as it’s been, water would be the least of my worries!  But noooooooo not me!)

Please?

OhLadyOkay, so I’m flipping thru one of the magazines that came today….. and well, I’ve decided I need someone to just bring me a huge vat of Nivea Silhouette.  The ad says that Silhouette can lead to a  3 cm reduction on targeted area’s such as waist, thighs, hips and belly!!  I figure if I could soak in a vat on the weekends I wouldn’t have to exercise or DIET!!!   So?  Whadda ya say?  Hello??  Anyone??   Nivea

In the meantime I’ll keep doing what I’m doing.  Slow but steady.  I keep thinking 11 pounds isn’t much but when you add in toning it really is!  This week alone I’ve fit into 2 skirts and one dress I haven’t been able to get into before.   I also put another skirt in the garage sale box!  WOOO HOOO!!!

Duck duct duck

I’ve always heard that insanity runs in the family…. you get it from your KIDS!  But I may have actually passed the gene to my son Zachary!   Zac is going on a THOUSAND mile bike ride from San Diego to San Francisco to benefit Diabetes. Me?  I’m going to go to bed before I go dig around in the fridge for food.  Diet2I did really good all day and all of a sudden 10:15 at night and my stomach is growling.   You know it’s true, there isn’t anything that you can’t fix with duct tape……… that reminds me 1000 miles… better call Zac and tell him to buy duct tape. 

BTW do you know how hard it was to type DUCT instead of the proper name DUCK?!?!?

Don’t stare!

Today was my weekly phone call from Tyler at WellStrong Fitness.   Tyler wants me to up the cardio.  So when Kaki and I walk I’m supposed to walk 3 minutes and jog for 1 minute.  I am suppose to do this 2 times a week.  Thinking about this now….. I don’t like this idea at ALL!!  The route that Kaki and I walk is dodging kids from 3 schools.  A grade school, middle and HIGH SCHOOL!  The kids already look at us like we are welll geeky running4adults ….. that’s fine I’m okay with that.  But now I’m going to jog too?  I don’t run pretty.  I’ve never been a jogger…… I sound and look like ….. well…. it’s just not pretty.

Okay now for something totally off the wall.  (IMAGINE that!  FROM ME?!?!)   This is the coolest clip!!  I recommend listening with your eyes closed the first time then play it again and watch it.  It gives me goosebumps  everytime!!

Week 8

Here comes my weekly blah blah blah post.  (With a little whining thrown in!)   I stayed the same!!  THE SAME 11 pounds!!!  COME ON!!  Shouldn’t this be getting easier?!?!   Ohhh I know what you’re thinking…. “wasn’t it just a few posts back that said ‘you couldn’t get enough to eat?’”   Ummmm well, nooooooooooooo that was my eeeevil twin!!?!   devil1

Okay, fine….. well, at least it wasn’t a gain.  I am firming up though, because I wore 2 skirts this week that I have never had on!!   (They still had tags on them!!  YEA YEA YEA ME!!!) 

I walked with Kaki, did a couple nights with Jillian Michaels DVD.  But, over all I’ve just felt unmotivated and and ….. and….. blah.  I can’t think of a better way to say it.  Just BLAH! all this week.  But tomorrow starts my new week so I’m going to shake this off and get back to work!  Next week I will post a loss!  

BTW… thanks for the finger crossing… made it to the gas station just fine this morning.

You may want to sit down for this!

I can’t think of anything to blog about.  I KNOW!!  ME!! Who would have thought? Not me, I’m just as shocked as you are!!  I feel bad because I’m on such a roll.  I’ve not missed a single day since I started this challenge. (Besides, I would hate for you not to have SOMETHING to read in the morning, since you were nice enough to come check!!)  But tonight…. I got nadda, zip, zilch, nothin’.   Nothing blog worthy. Unless of course you want to know about dinner (I know how much you enjoy that topic!!). I had a white meat peach (SO GOOD!!) with a little bit of yogurt.  I could ask you to keep your fingers crossed for me tomorrow morning because I drove home on E…. not just e but a GREAT BIG WHOLE LOTTA empty E…… anyway keep your fingers crossed that I make it to the gas station!!  gasgirl

No cheating!

MaxineMondayToday was so busy it was easy to stick to my diet.  No cheating at all.  Dinner was fresh watermelon and yogurt.  I think I could eat watermelon every day and be a happy camper.

Even though Monday is my late night,  the Wii Fit  sounded like fun, got everything all set up…..  only to find out the batteries are dead….. (Do I have  creative excuses not to exercise Monday nights or WHAT!!!!)   But I did do some ab work so all is not lost.

The weekend is almost over and I can get back to the business of loosing weight!!   I don’t know why this weekend was so much harder than most.  I was lazy and hungry all weekend.  Sooooooooo NOT good!  I’m going to have to work hard straight thru till Wednesday just to stay even let alone show a loss.   Do you think I could just NOT eat till Wednesday?  Naaa me either.

Is it just me??

Why are weekends so hard for me to eat right??  I want to eat from the time I wake up till I go to bed.   I know I pig out because I’m bored.  There is nothing to watch on TV.  The dogs have all been walked.  DH is already in bed.  I could do an exercise DVD… but I don’t want toooooooo!!   Instead I’m eating peanut butter out of the jar with a spoon!!  WHAT is WRONG with this picture?!?!?!?   I think I had better go to bed too before I blow this diet completely outta the water!   Scale

Everyone else is going to Vegas without me and I’m pouting!!    (Pouting and driving all over the place babysitting Granddogs!!!)   I know playing and walking dogs burns calories.  Do you think sulking burns double??

Ohhhh loookie!

Today was my weekly phone call with Tyler at WellStrong Fitness.  His suggestions for the week are: add more weights to my vest for my morning walks.  (makes sense! I’ve lost 11 pounds and to keep my body working hard let’s put it back on for the walk!)  Tyler’s other suggestion was to leave out the hash browns I normally have Sunday morning  when we go out to breakfast.  Tyler would like to see me have fresh fruit… (yeaaaaaaaaaa ummm crunchy on the outside hash browns… verses fruit??!?! FRUIT!??  Fruit and bacon?!?  Really?!?! REALLY?!?! What if I accidentally forget to write down what I eat on Sunday!!!  That might WORK!!!)  Tyler was really happy with my progress, so business as usual for the next week.  

To celebrate 11 pounds I went for a hair cut!  It’s amazing how much better a cute hair cut and style makes you feel!!  There is a brand new salon in Escondido called (I removed the name on 9-25-09.  Rosa doesn’t work there anymore!!  VERY SAD!! New guy didn’t even wash my hair?!?!  For $50!  I at least want my hair washed! Hate the new ‘trim’ never had so much hair cut off for a trim before.  I miss Rosa already!!)  Rosa is WONDERFUL with the scissors! I’ve already gotten so many compliments on my hair!   That’s always a great boost!  DSC01616 Thank you Rosa!!!

Week 7

I had to go back and look; I can’t believe it really has been 7 weeks!!   WOW time is going so fast!  Must be all this exercise!  Here’s my blah blah blah for the week.

I walked the week days with Kaki, weighted vest and all.  (It’s even time to go shopping for new walking shoes)  I did the Jillian Michaels dvd 2 different nights.   I made good food choices.  ANDDDDDD it paid off with another 2 pound loss!!  YEE HA ME!!!  That’s 11 pounds down!!!!  WWOOOOO HOOOOOO     Sherry1

Diet & Exercise

 Exercise and eating healthy really can make a big difference.  Today, one of our patients at work could easily be the poster child for staying active.  81 years young.  We all thought she had written her age down wrong!!  She easily looked 20 years younger.  I swear she had more energy than I do!   Her secret is simple……. stay active!   If you could see this woman you’d be motivated to get off the couch and MOVE!!  Just like I’m about to do….. Jillian Michaels workout DVD here I come.  (Uhhhhh UGH!  Don’tcha just hate it when the experts are right???).  woke up

Ummmm chocolate…….

Okay REALLY!! …..  Pizza Hut needs to get that new commerical off the air!  I’m starting to dream about that pizza bowl and the chocolate lava cake………  closely followed by the Wendy’s BBQ chicken wings.  I WANT JUNK FOOD!!  I WANT a LOT of it!!  M&M’s, pizza, chicken wings and chocolate lava cake!!!!!!!!   But here I sit with a Yoplait peach frozen whip and a large bottle of water.   It’s good you’all are here to keep me honest otherwise………… chocolate3

Belt it Dan-o

I really didn’t expect 9 pounds to make any real impact on me but it has made a difference!   I put on a pair of jeans that I wear on the weekends if I didn’t have a belt on I wouldn’t have JEANS ON!!  WOW!!  So back to the closet I went……. I put 3 more skirts and 2 pairs of jeans in the garage sale bag!!!  WOW!!  I was going to check the other skirts I put back for when I have lost weight but I think I’ll wait a few more pounds.  Why waste this ‘feel great’ moment?!?! 

Now I’m motivated again to work out with Jillian Michaels and have fresh fruit for dinner!

Can’t quit yawning!

yawning2I wish I had a good excuse why I didn’t do an exercise DVD after work tonight but I just can’t think of one.  I made really good food decisions all day.  But exercise?  Just couldn’t bring myself to do anything except watch a movie.   WAIT!!  Hold the phone!!  Laughing burns calories right?  Oh wait…  we just watched an action movie… 12 Rounds with John Cena.  It was really good.  That burns calories?  Right?  Getting caught up in the action?  No?  Okay well, it was still a really good movie. 

Tomorrow I will exercise with Jillian.  Tonight? I’m going to bed early!

What a blur…..

It’s amazing how fast a day off goes.  It’s just not fair.  Why doesn’t your day at work go that fast???  Although, I burned some major calories today.  My house is SO clean, the laundry is done.  Ran errands including  picking up my GrandDOG Bosco at the groomers and delivering him home. (He had emails to read so I didn’t stay and play)  Ran to the Kohl’s sale (I had a 30% off coupon.  You just can’t let something like that go to waste!)  Then spent the rest of the day with my Mom. Now I’m enjoying a Yoplait raspberry whip.  (You really should try these!  Put them in the freezer, it’s almost like sherbet.  YUM!! AND they keep me from cheating!!!)  I think I’ll go work tomorrow so I can relax!!

Week 6

Here is my weekly blah blah blah post.    I did really good with exercise.  Walked every weekday with Kaki.  In my weighted vest.  Added 3 different evenings with a Jillian Michael’s exercise DVD.  Made much better food choices.  Lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and grilled chicken.  (Finally that big Costco size bag of baked potato chips are gone too.  THANK HEAVENS!!!)

Now the drum roll…………….. down 3 pounds!   So total weight-loss is 9 pounds.   I have to keep reminding myself ‘slow weight loss is better for you!’ but MAN I would love to just wake up at my goal weight I mean really …. why not?  I’ve learned my lesson… I’ll eat healthy, I’ll exercise and just because I’m stressed doesn’t mean I’ll feel better after I eat a one pound bag of M&M’s … soooo what are the chances I’ll wake up skinny??ClemCouch

Gardening

Nothing better than a fresh tomato on a salad.   For Mothers Day my kids bought me a Topsy Turvy Planter.  Tonight I harvested my tomato.   Yup as in one.  BUT wait!  It gets  better!!  Actually words just wouldn’t do my tomato justice.     Tomato1

Isn’t that the prettiest tomato?!     To bad there was only one.   Do you think that much gardening could be counted as exercising??    I mean I did have to walk to the patio….. back to the kitchen….. no?    FINE!   GESH!!   Jillian Michaels DVD here I come.

I hate Mondays!

Such a long day!!  Monday’s I work 10 to 7:00pm.  Which means I don’t get home till 7:45…. By the time I eat a light dinner I just don’t have the energy to do an exercise DVD.  But I did walk this morning, weighted vest and all.   So mostly I just wanted to tell you I hate Mondays!    i_hate_mondays

I get an A+

I did another Jillian Michael’s DVD today.   She kicked my butt again!  I can only imagine what she would be like in person!  No wonder people on the show dropped weight so consistently and fast!!!   Tyler at WellStrong Fitness was right adding an exercise DVD was a great idea.  It’s really good for the weekends because Kaki and I don’t walk.  My goal is to the dvd at least 4 times a week.  I even made great food choices all weekend.  Lots of  fresh fruit.  Salads.  No junk food!!  ALL weekend!!  ALL WEEKEND!!  Do you understand just how amazing that IS?!?!?   That’s like.. well it’s like… not ME!

I shoulda won!!

delmarI went to the Del Mar horse races tonight, had a great time.  I didn’t win and I so should have!   I bet a 3 horse Exacta in the 5th race with these names:

Princess Susan  (I always say I AM the princess.  My middle name is Sue).  Mood Winner (Menopause makes me moody) and Mean Heat(ahhhh can you say HOTFLASH!??!)  HOW does that combination NOT win!??!?  Easy…. I bet on it.  Oh well, had fun.  Only had a diet coke.  I also was parked so far from the track it HAD to count as exercise!

No crying in exercising??

You know an exercise video is going to kick your butt when the first line from the instructor is “Welcome…… you brave brave soul”   WAIT….. WHAT?!?!??! 

My darling daughter Selena loaned me her Jillian Michaels “The biggest winner” boxed set.  So I loaded all 5 disks in the player and hit random….. Jillian is AMAZING (and really mean! tough!  no mean… I’m sticking with mean)!!  As she introduces everyone in the class she points to one young lady and tells you to follow her if you are new….. but “It’s still going to be really hard.  Really…. well, I’m sorry”   Jillian didn’t lie.  I’ve been done for a half an hour and I’m still catching my breath!  WOW!!

Pity Party

I am in such a rut!!   I feel unmotivated, tired and just BLAH!!!!    I still have left overs from the BBQ (dangerous!)  I normally send home all the left over junk food with my son……… not this time.  WHY??  WHY?!?!  Costco size potato chips.  I kept them??  WHY?!?!?!?!?!? WHY would I do that to myself??    (Ohhhh and they are the good ones too.  Thick, baked and lightly salted)   So I guess you know what I had for dinner.  UGH!!  Now I have potato chip guilt!    (I didn’t even know you could HAVE POTATO chip GUILT!!)

Week 5

I’m ready to get back to work now.  Kaki and I did our walk.  MAN that hill got steep over night!!  I didn’t do any extra exercises this last week ………. unless we can count carrying Emma, playing with Emma, swimming with Emma……. changing Emma’s diaper.  Wait…. THAT is extra exercise!  MAN can that child MOVE!!  When your kids are 29, 30 and 32 you forget just how much energy it takes to survive an 11 month old!  HOLY MOLY!!  If I could have Emma’s energy for 1 day a week I’d never have a weight problem!  

So I have nothing to report for week 5.  I stayed exactly the same, which is really good for me.  Next week though……… look out!!  I’m gonna have all sorts of weight loss to report!!!   (WOW!! how about that for adding stress to my week!?!?   I’m not real bright sometimes!)

Gettin’ me some will power….. soon

I did good today!!!  I had a hamburger at In & Out …wait wait wait…..I can hear you now…. ‘that’s not being good!’   BUT I had it protein style.  Which means without the bun. Instead it is wrapped in lettuce.  It was really good and really messy!   I also shared an order of fries.  Which granted was not smart,  I actually wasn’t going to have any…… but they smelled sooooooooo good!!!!!  I couldn’t resist. 

My daughter and her family are on their way back home now.  So no more excuses…. I have to get back on track to loose the rest of this weight.  I don’t think we have anything else coming up that revolves around food.  (Right?? Guys?? Right??)  Seriously!! Every get together our family has have to center around FOOD?!?!  Maybe I’ll learn to say “Oh no thank you….. I’ll have celery?!?!”  (ha ha ha!  Connie made a funny!)

Good Day Bad Day

I feel like I’m always complaining in my blog.  UGH!!  That has got to stop!!!!  AND YET….. here I go again.   (Paaaaaleeease like you didn’t see that coming!)

It was a GOOD day because for the first time I got to babysit my PERFECT Granddaughter Emma while her Mom & Dad went to a business dinner. (just for the record the only reason this is my first babysitting opportunity is because they don’t live in California… otherwise I would make holding, cuddling and kissing Miss Emma my full time job!!)   What an AWESOME night!!   Emma is such a good natured baby!!  No crying. No fussing.   I held her almost the entire night!  She is a PERFECT BABY GIRL!!!!!!   Wanting to be the Grandma that sets a good example we had fruit and yogurt for dinner.  Okay well, Emma had a bottle… and could have cared less that I didn’t have nachos…. I still made good choices and had fruit.   (do ya like how I tied my diet in with the Grandbaby?  I’m good! I tell ya!)  

But it was a BAD day because today would have been my baby brother’s 47th birthday.  He passed away on Christmas Eve 2008.  It was just a hard day.  It would have been a real easy day to bury myself in food and have an amazing pity party.  Instead I played with Emma and hugged my own kids.  Happy Birthday Mikey.

Say what?

It’s odd to me that exercise wakes me up.  Days when I don’t exercise I am tired and sleepy all day.  How does that make sense?  Work hard….. sweat up a storm…… have energy all day long.  Sleep in and all I want to do is sit on the couch or nap.

Soooo trust me on this…. go outside and walk around the block…. you will have enough energy to last all day.   And now since I didn’t walk or exercise today I’m going to bed at 9:30pm because I’m exhausted from laying around all day!!  potato
